Welcome to my Studio

Buddy and Bruno - official Greeters for our Studio Tour

Hello! Welcome! C'mon in!
I'm so excited you're here - isn't this the coolest party? A huge thank you to
Karen Valentine from  My Desert Cottage
for creating this amazing event!
My studio is my sanctuary--I'm surrounded by everything I love-- art, books , music,  the garden through the window, my cats-- I'm so excited to share it with you! While I am most often a solitary worker in my studio, you'll soon learn what a large role my husband plays in the creation of this magical space.

I love this table. Everything fits!

My Summer Tree
if you look closely you'll see not only my artwork, but ornaments done
by Julie Nutting,  Sheri Baldy and way in the back,  Iva Wilcox

My husband (who is an EXTRAORDINARY man!!) built a huge table (it used to be a closet door!) that is my work surface.   It holds my computer, EVERYTHING I need when working on a project - paints, brushes, etc. AND a six foot white Christmas tree that I decorate each month.
Valentine's Day Tree
Spring Tree
Project, computer and the tree
Despite the large table, Buddy likes to sit on the edge

Last week I was making tiny cones for some Victorian ornaments
--my husband came up with these "drying racks"
He makes me laugh every day!
Apparently HE thought they were elf hats!!
Some of my bits and bobs
Lots of shelves with inspirational items. The two darling mice were made by the incredible Jenn Hernandez.

Now here's the part that makes me cry (happy tears!!) I told my husband about Where Bloggers Create two days ago. That is when the corner by the windows looked like this:

He surprised me --and put in a work counter!! He finished it this afternoon - and now that corner looks like this:

I'll get this corner "set up" in the next week or so and take a long shot of the studio so you can see the entire room.

When I originally started this post, I thought it would be about my art and my studio--I'm grateful that I also get to publicly acknowledge all my husband's hard work and how much it means to me.

Well, that's it - hope you enjoyed the tour. Thanks so much for stopping by.  Can't wait to see all of your studios!!

  1. I love the whimsy, but I have to admit -- the cats have me. I had a cat named Buddy who passed last year, and we got a rescue cat named Vernon who looks EXACTLY like one of yours -- so since I started my hop with your blog, I take that as a good omen!

Please visit my blog when you have a chance!

  11. Sweet Janelle,

WOW your blog is GLITTERY AND I LOVE THAT!! I want to thank you for your kind comment on my post and for taking the time to do so. I see that you too are participating in this party as is my wonderful friend, Violet from Creating Beauty. I so love your official greeters; they are kind, gentle and SO CUTE! I have a very small and dark little space in my basement where I create my art and glittered projects. I make books and other things that inspire me. So good to meet you and again, thank you. I see you are in CA? I was born and raised in Los Angeles and lived in Pico Rivera and Whittier. Moved to Boston, Mass. and then to the Midwest. Have a fabulous time at this great party!!! Anita

  12. Hi Jenelle, so glad you stopped by my beach room. Isn't this party wonderful? I already have so much inspiration and I've barely started visiting.
I LOVE our studio. I couldn't believe when I read that your husband made that table from a closet door. It is EXACTLY what I had considered having mine make with an old door that's been propped up in our garage forever. I love that corner piece too.
Thank you so much for encouraging women that it's never too late to dream. I am there too.
I love your year round Christmas tree. I'd love it if you wrote about it and linked up to our White Christmas in July blog party next week.
PS-I've never visited but I dream of one day living in Italy so your header was an instant delight. :) Tell me more about the term Fa La Vecia and how you came up with the blog title. I look forward to more visits.
    Keep dreaming!

  23. Hi
What a great space - I love the new workspace by the windows - what great windows! And wonderful kitties! When I read things like "this item was made in a pet-free house" I always feel so sorry for the people. Thanks for sharing - and for stopping by my space!
